Droughts, longer seasons, oceans warming up, and wildfires are results of our careless acts of pollution altering the earth’s climate by warming up the atmosphere, this is global warming. The reason our atmosphere is getting warmer is the result of greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide and chlorofluorocarbons being trapped inside of the earth’s atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is a colorless odorless gas released by burning coal. For example, cooking food on a grill using charcoal. Chlorofluorocarbons is a gas typically used in refrigerant and aerosoles. For example, everytime you spray hairspray chlorofluorocarbons are released into the atmosphere. This results in greenhouse gases getting trapped in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases are pollutants released by cars, cattle, industry, and aerosol products.

We could help lower the amount of greenhouse gases from getting trapped by lowering our consumption rate of resources. We can also lower the amount of greenhouse gasses by driving less, taking the bus, and bart. Instead of your car. Using less electricity would also be another great choice. This would result in the power plants burning less fuel and releasing less greenhouse gases.

Warmer weather will lead to our oceans becoming warmer causing the coral reef systems to not grow. Our ocean has to stay within a certain temperature range for ecosystems such as coral reefs to survive. If the temperature increases the coral reefs environment is uninhabitable for the coral. Marine life needs the coral reefs to provide food and shelter. When all of our oceans coral reefs die we will lose much of the sea life and our economies will be hit very hard. The fish market and the tourist market employ a lot of people. One more thing that happens when the ocean becomes warmer is the north and south pole ice melts away resulting in an increase in ocean water levels. When the arctic sea ice melts polar bears will lose their habitats.

Global warming leads to abnormal weather such as droughts that result in years with little to no rainfall. No rain affects the economy in many ways for example people were being put out of farming jobs in California. The reason there was no work for farmers is because there was no water for the produce to grow. The rain is needed for people who work farming jobs in the central valley in order for the crops to even grow in the first place. The results were devastating and some people didn’t have any water to drink and farmers didn’t have any water to water their plants. There were also stories in the SF bay area of animals coming down from the woods and drinking from peoples swimming pools because they couldn’t find water.

If we were to use less natural resources and burn less fuel as well as be more friendly to the environment we could help change our future and help reverse the effects of global warming. We could save our environment, oceans, animals, and economy by simply changing our actions today. Our future results from our actions start now.
